Residents of certain U.S. states may have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising, or certain profiling. This page explains those choices.

Our role

See Cover is an online insurance marketing and referral service. When you request auto insurance information or quotes, we may disclose the details you provide to independent insurance carriers, agents, brokers, and other service providers so they can respond. Some state laws may define particular disclosures for advertising or referral purposes as a “sale” or “sharing,” even when no money is exchanged for the information itself.

Information involved

The categories that may be involved include:

• Identifiers such as name, email address, phone number, mailing address, ZIP code, and IP address
• Personal details such as date of birth, gender, and marital status
• Vehicle and driver details such as vehicle year, make, model, VIN, annual mileage, driving history, accidents, claims, and violations
• Current insurance details such as current carrier, coverage type and limits, policy expiration date, and any lapse in coverage
• Internet or device activity such as browser type, pages viewed, and interactions
• Inferences or referral information associated with your request

We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of consumers under 16.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may request that we:

• Confirm whether we process your personal information
• Provide access to or a copy of certain personal information
• Correct inaccurate personal information
• Delete personal information
• Opt you out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or qualifying profiling
• Limit the use or disclosure of certain sensitive personal information
• Provide information about categories of data and recipients

Submit an opt-out request

Email us at privacy@seecover.com with the subject “Do Not Sell or Share Request.” Include your full name, email address, phone number, state of residence, and the ZIP code you entered in your quote request so we can locate the correct record.

Verification

We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and match you to our records. The information collected for verification will be used only to process the request. If we cannot verify a request, we may be unable to fulfill it.

Authorized agents

You may use an authorized agent where permitted by law. We may request proof that the agent has authority to act for you and may separately verify your identity or confirm the request with you.

Non-discrimination

We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right. Some services may require information to function; deleting or restricting that information may prevent us from completing a requested referral or quote request.

Appeals

If we deny your request and your state provides an appeal right, you may appeal by emailing privacy@seecover.com with the subject “Privacy Request Appeal.” Include the request date and a brief explanation.

Other choices

You can manage browser cookies through your browser settings and opt out of text messages by replying STOP. Cookie controls are browser- and device-specific and may need to be repeated if you clear cookies or use another device. Opting out on this page does not remove information already provided to an insurance carrier or agent. To stop communications or request deletion from a provider, contact that provider directly under its own privacy policy.
